The definition of Gingivitis according to the American Dental Association (ADA) is “inflammation of gingival tissue without loss of connective tissue”. Gingivitis is considered reversible with treatment and is associated with no bone loss. Gingivitis is an inflammatory disease, and thus, should be treated and re-evaluated to determine effectiveness of treatment.
