Impacted Teeth Exposure

Often during the course of your Orthodontic treatment, it becomes necessary to expose or uncover a tooth that has not yet erupted naturally in the mouth. Your Orthodontist may refer you for this simple procedure which requires both topical and local anesthetic for your comfort.

We utilize a digital x-ray system. This aids us in locating impacted teeth, giving us precise measurements and thus making for a more conservative procedure. In some instances the removal of non supporting bone is required to gain access to the tooth and aid in the eruption of the tooth.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen post-operatively accompanied by an anti-microbial rinse for about two weeks. The patient may experience slight redness and tenderness in the treated area, but can usually resume normal activities, including sports in about 48  hours.
