Bleaching & Gingival Health

Tooth Whitening procedures continue to be a growing public interest. Moderation is the best way to describe the use of these products. Gingival health should be established prior to whitening. Gingivitis and Periodontitis  should be treated first. Gingival margins that have thin tissue or have no attached tissue should be monitored closely. When changes in gingival color occur, whitening should stop until the area has healed.  Tooth Sensitivity at the gingival margin is a sign of receding gums and periodontal disease should be ruled out. Should one have question regarding gingival health please feel free to contact our office.
